1. You use the shopping list whiteboard at dinner to explain to the children the difference between delegates and superdelegates. (Yes, I'm aware my addiction began eons ago, and the whiteboard is now forbidden at the dinner table.)

2. Your 9-year-old talks about being disenfranchised.

Seeking an escape from my latest obsession with the presidential election, I ventured to the back of the Time Community Theater Saturday, where I watched with wonder magician extraordinaire Mike Schroeder get away from it all.

And, boy, when Schroeder gets away, he gets away.

For some inexplicable reason, Schroeder thought it'd be a fun activity to get strapped into a straitjacket and then hoisted 100 feet up in the air. Upside down, mind you.

And just for kicks, he has to free himself from the jacket before he passes out or panic sets in.

A journalist friend e-mailed me this video created by the Women's Media Center during the height of the Democratic primaries.

I watched it, sickened by what I saw - blatant sexism in the media. I was offended because I am a daughter of a woman who, along with my father, believes that boys AND girls deserve every opportunity to succeed. That is why they brought us to America decades ago. I was offended because I am a mother, who teaches her boys to treat people with respect. Period.
